European Oak Beams
Venables are one of the few timber merchants in the UK carrying large stocks of European oak beams, both fresh sawn and air dried.

Fresh Sawn Structural Grade European Oak
- Freshly cut beams.
- These beams are used widely in trusses, oak framed buildings and extensions, porches, external landscaping....
- Some black bore holes are acceptable.
Air Dried Structural Grade European Oak
- Our air dried oak beams have been dried externally for approx 1 - 5 years. They are mainly held in square section sizes but can be cut to accommodate your list.
- Air dried beams are prone to less shrinkage than fresh sawn beams, however a small amount is still expected. It takes approximately 1 year to acclimatise just 1" of beam.
- Due to the natural drying process of Air Dried Oak, it will contain surface checking, splits, possibly an arris of sap and will be grey/silver in colour.
- If the size is not a standard square section it may be cut from an air dried beam so the pieces will have two weathered and two bright faces. When long small sections of beams are produced by resawing from larger sections some deflection is inevitable and although we endeavor to select straight pieces when resawing we can not guarantee long lengths will remain perfectly straight Some black bore holes are acceptable.
Planed All Round Fresh Sawn Structural Grade European Oak
- Our fresh Sawn structural Grade European Oak (green oak) are freshly cut beams.
- Our Oak is planed using the most up to date machinery and will provide you with an accurate and smooth finish.

Planed All Round Air Dried Structural Grade European Oak
- Our air dried oak beams have been dried externally for approx 1 - 5 years. They are mainly held in square section sizes but can be cut to accommodate your list.

Fresh Sawn Fencing Grade European Oak
- Fresh sawn Fencing Grade oak is perfect for your fencing posts.
- It is a lower grade of oak than our structural grade and should therefore not be used for structural purposes.
European Oak Curved Windbrace
- Our European Oak curved windbraces are made from Fresh Sawn European Oak.
- Please download the technical drawing to view all the sizes.
- Please note fresh sawn oak will have some discoloration on the faces and some shrinkage & movement will be inevitable as the oak dries out.
- Please note our windbrace can only be ordered as part of a beam order. They are not available as single items.

European Oak Dowel
Our Oak dowels are made from Prime grade kiln dried European Oak.
They are 19mm round x 300mm long.
