Winters Coming....

I know, seems like yesterday we were talking about our Summer Shutdown.

Our good old British winter will inevitably bring Rain, Frost, Wind and storms - Storm Brian is heading our way this weekend apparently!

To keep external timber looking great and to maximise durability it’s important to keep gutters clean to prevent leaves from building up and rotting down against fascia's, cladding etc...

Check your Joinery, Inspect your windows and if they need a recoat of treatment do that before the bad weather.

By doing these (sometimes painstaking tasks - especially the leaves!) your timber will last and last!

IF you do need replacements just get in touch, happy to help , advise!

Windows Windows Windows....

Walking around the workshop yesterday I noticed just how busy we were manufacturing hardwood windows for Clients.

If you’re in the market for new windows why not consider wooden windows?

Environment

Not only is the process of manufacture more environmentally friendly but numerous tests have shown that a well cared for wooden window will last twice as long as a UPVC equivalent, meaning less replacements.

Wooden windows are biodegradable, so when they (eventually) come to the end of their life, they are more widely recycled than UPVC.

Style

They can be made to suit a whole host of tastes and styles, they can also of course be left naked or painted to pretty much any colour you like...so if you want bright pink windows...go for it!

Many UPVC manufactures are offering 'wooden look' windows...this is because people want the clasic style and beauty of wood....why settle for second best?

Value

Yes, its true, some wooden windows will come up as more expensive in the short term against UPVC however...as we have stated, they will outlast UPVC meaning no replecment needed, and they may also add value to a period home.

Feeling Autumnal

Not sure about you but all of a sudden the darker mornings have crept up on us !

This inevitably leads to thoughts of Darker Nights, Cooler Weather and the approaching winter.

Your home should feel like a retreat from the Weather, a retreat from your busy day and a place to relax in.

People often overlook the entrance hall, not treating it as a room in itself.

Practical Warm flooring is a must - Solid Oak Flooring provides that solution, great for muddy paws, wet boots and children!

A Beautiful Bespoke Oak Door provides a Secure, Individual option that can be completely tailored to your property and tastes.

The Staircase design itself can really help make a big impression, from a classic style to a contemporary look.

We're not just oak!

We thought we would share with you a recent project for a private client:

Our client is the owner of a Mid Century Modern house in the UK Midlands.

When completed in 1957 the house was opened to the public for a period as an example of modular design and contemporary living. It was also given a national Civic Trust Award  for its construction, design and layout, whcih is based around modules of  four-foot cubes.

Having been rented out for over 20 years it is now undergoing a sensitive restoration programme. This exterior staircase, deck and balcony was therefore made to an exact replica of the 1957 original, using tropical iroko, with balau for the decking and powder coated steel for the balustrades.

Heart of the home....

We’re talking Kitchens in the office today….

It’s a well known fact that a good kitchen can add value to your home. Wether you are currently looking to sell now, renovation, restoring or just thinking further ahead, it really is worth taking a look at a new kitchen as an ‘investment’ opportunity.

The beauty of a bespoke kitchen is that everything is built around you and your property, not a mass produced style that will need to be ‘tweaked’ to fit.

Having a functional kitchen is important this day in age. A kitchen is not just about cooking anymore, we entertain there, Do homework there, watch tv there…Having one made bespoke can ensure that your end result is a comfortable space that works well and flows well.

Everyone is different and everyone has different taste, having something designed specifically with you and your lifestyle in mind really does add that personal touch and can turn a house into a home.

It really is the heart of the home.

Take a look at some of the below pictures to see previous projects we’ve completed for clients, you’ll notice the huge difference in Styles, the possibilities literally are endless.
